Each program begins with a comprehensive health assessment and physician review, followed by personalized recommendations, appropriate supplements and medications - and clear instructions for their use.

Each successive tier includes a more detailed physician analysis of your questionnaire responses, expanded individualized treatment recommendations and additional guidance and instructions appropriate to that level of preparedness. The increased program costs therefore reflect both the additional treatments and the greater depth of clinical evaluation and personalized planning.

How Your Assessment Is Conducted

The ImmuneDefense™ assessment is conducted remotely through our comprehensive online health questionnaire, allowing you to provide your medical history, current medications, supplements and relevant laboratory results at your convenience.

Your information is subsequently reviewed by a physician, who prepares your personalized program recommendations and detailed instructions.

If you prefer, practical guidance on how to use the antimicrobial blue light (aBL) probe can be provided in person. This is optional, as written instructions are included with your program.

Personalized Pricing

Your program is tailored to your individual medical requirements.

Not every medication is suitable or necessary for every patient. Following your health assessment and physician review, any medication that is not recommended or cannot be prescribed will be excluded, and its listed cost will be deducted from your package price.

The clinical assessment and personalized program preparation remain integral components of each tier.

Additional Vitamin D Restoration Costs

For patients with very low vitamin D levels, a course of calcifediol may be recommended during the RESTORE phase to bring vitamin D levels into the desired range.

This initial restoration course is not included in the standard program price, as not all patients will require it. The number of doses is calculated individually based on body weight, current vitamin D results and the target level.

Where a restoration course is recommended, the additional cost will be clearly outlined following your physician assessment.

This is separate from the calcifediol provision included in the RESPOND EARLY and ESCALATE program tiers.

Additional Consultations & Medical Support

Your package includes the initial physician assessment, personalized program recommendations and preparation of your individualized instructions.

Additional consultations, subsequent treatment reviews, changes requiring further medical assessment and consultations during an acute illness are not included in the initial package price.

These services can be arranged separately, with the applicable fees communicated in advance.

ImmuneDefense also recognizes that the body’s ability to respond effectively to infection depends on more than direct antiviral interventions.

An important part of the program therefore involves identifying and addressing factors that may compromise normal immune function.

This includes optimizing vitamin D status, supporting appropriate nutritional and metabolic health, and implementing other individualized measures intended to place the body in the best possible position to respond to infectious challenges.



Targeted Antiviral Strategies

In addition to these foundational measures, the program incorporates selected antiviral strategies according to individual circumstances and the stage of potential infection.

Ivermectin is often used as an inexpensive proactive antiviral measure during periods of increased exposure.

Oral methylene blue, however, has become our preferred intervention once symptoms of viral illness have developed.

Over more than five years of clinical experience, Dr. Hepburn has observed consistently impressive responses to oral methylene blue, particularly in the rapid reduction of symptoms and acceleration of recovery.

Its introduction into the COVID-19 treatment protocol represented a major advance in her clinical approach, and subsequent experience has reinforced its importance in the management of many acute viral illnesses.

A Personalized, Stage-Based Approach to Viral Infection Preparedness

The clinical experience and innovations described above form the foundation of the Luminnova ImmuneDefense™ Program.

What began as an effort to develop more effective and accessible treatments during the COVID-19 pandemic has evolved into a comprehensive approach focused on helping individuals prepare for viral infections, rather than waiting until illness develops.

ImmuneDefense™ is designed to help you prepare in advance, optimize the foundations of normal immune function, and have a personalized strategy ready when the risk of viral infection increases or symptoms first appear.

Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all supplement or treatment package, we begin by understanding your individual health, nutritional status, medications, risk factors, previous experience with viral infections and personal preferences.

From there, we develop a practical, physician-reviewed strategy that combines nutritional optimization, proactive protection during higher-risk exposure, and individualized plans for early or established viral illness.

An important feature of ImmuneDefense™ is that your assessment and preparation take place while you are well. This allows relevant safety investigations and medication reviews to be completed in advance, reducing uncertainty and potentially avoiding delays when illness occurs.

The program follows six complementary stages, organized into three levels of preparedness.

1. ASSESS

Understand Your Individual Starting Point

Every participant begins by completing a comprehensive health questionnaire.

This helps us understand your:

  • Current health and relevant medical conditions

  • Weight and metabolic health

  • Vitamin D status and recent laboratory results

  • Current medications and supplements

  • Allergies and previous medication reactions

  • Previous viral infections and recovery

  • Relevant risk factors and exposure patterns

  • Nutritional considerations

  • Individual needs, concerns and preferences

Your questionnaire is reviewed by a physician, who prepares a detailed, personalized evaluation and recommendations.

Depending on your medical history and the level of preparedness you select, additional investigations may be recommended.

For individuals who may be candidates for oral methylene blue, G6PD testing is recommended in advance, together with a review of medications and potential contraindications.

Other investigations, such as a complete blood count or targeted metabolic testing, may be recommended when clinically appropriate.

The aim is to complete important assessments before they become urgent, while avoiding unnecessary investigations.

The objective is simple: understand your starting point before deciding what you need.

2. RESTORE

Optimizing the Foundations of Immune Health

A healthy immune system depends on essential nutrients that help the body fight infections, regulate inflammation and maintain normal cellular function.

The Luminnova ImmuneDefense™ RESTORE strategy focuses on vitamin D3, vitamin K2, vitamin A and magnesium, together with calcifediol when rapid correction of vitamin D deficiency is appropriate.

Vitamin D3 — A Foundation of Immune Health

Vitamin D does much more than support healthy bones. It plays an important role in immune regulation, protection against infections and controlling excessive inflammation.

Low vitamin D levels have been associated with increased susceptibility to infections, autoimmune diseases and several types of cancer.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, studies found that low vitamin D levels were associated with a greater risk of severe illness. In several studies, the majority of hospitalized patients who were tested had low vitamin D levels, including many who died from the infection.

Maintaining adequate vitamin D levels is therefore an important part of supporting normal immune function and long-term health.

Because vitamin D requirements vary considerably, Luminnova recommends individualized supplementation based on vitamin D status, body weight and other relevant factors.

Vitamin K2 — Promoting Safer Calcium Handling

Vitamin D increases calcium absorption, while vitamin K2 activates proteins that help direct calcium toward bones and teeth and lessens the potential risk of the increased calcium being inappropriately deposited in blood vessels, soft tissues and the kidneys.

We strongly recommend pairing vitamin K2 with vitamin D3 particularly with long-term supplementation, to support healthy calcium regulation.

Vitamin A — Supporting the Body’s Natural Defenses

Vitamin A works alongside vitamin D to support immune regulation and healthy cellular function.

It also helps maintain the protective linings of the respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts—important first-line barriers against infection.

Appropriate intake is important, as excessive vitamin A can be harmful.

Magnesium — Essential for Vitamin D Activation

Magnesium is involved in hundreds of essential cellular processes, including energy production, metabolic regulation and immune function.

It is also required for the enzymes that convert vitamin D3 in the liver and subsequently into its active hormonal form. Inadequate magnesium may therefore lead to reduced conversion of vitamin D3 to the active form of  vitamin D.

Magnesium deficiency is common, and may go unrecognized because routine blood tests do not always reflect the body’s total magnesium stores.

For these reasons, magnesium is an important part of the Luminnova ImmuneDefense supplement package.

Calcifediol —  Rapid Restoration of Vitamin D Status

Where vitamin D deficiency is identified, calcifediol may be recommended to restore vitamin D levels more rapidly

Calcifediol offers an important advantage over conventional vitamin D3: speed of action.

Taking calcifediol directly bypasses the first step, allowing vitamin D levels to rise much more rapidly.

When you take vitamin D3, your body first converts it into calcifediol in the liver. Calcifediol then needs just one additional step, mainly in the kidneys, to become the fully active form of vitamin D.

As a result calcifediol can begin raising circulating active vitamin D levels within hours, whereas vitamin D3 must first undergo conversion in the liver, a process that may take several days or even up to two weeks to achieve a comparable increase.

Luminnova ImmuneDefense™ incorporates calcifediol in two important ways:

1. RESTORE — Proactive Vitamin D Correction

Despite our sunny climate, we are finding that the vast majority of patients we have tested in the Bahamas have inadequate or very low vitamin D levels. Luminnova recommends correcting significant vitamin D deficiency to minimize health risks associated with low vitamin D as quickly as possible.

2. RESPOND EARLY & ESCALATE — Rapid Boost During Acute Illness

Taking a proactive approach to RESTORE and MAINTAIN optimal vitamin D levels is the best approach. However, we recognize that this may not always be the case, particularly if regular supplementation has not been maintained. Furthermore, acute infection and inflammation may be accompanied by a substantial further decline in measured vitamin D levels so a rapid boost may be very helpful.

A Tale of Two Vitamin Ds During COVID-19

Recognizing the crucial role played by vitamin D to resist and recover from acute infections, studies were conducted to assess the effect of administering conventional vitamin D3 after hospital admission for CoVID-19. These studies generally did not demonstrate substantial improvements in clinical outcomes. The results were disappointing but not at all surprising when the time required to activate D3 to the fully activated form of vitamin D is considered. The fully active vitamin D essentially came too late to be of benefit.

In contrast, an early Spanish study of calcifediol reported ICU admission rates of approximately 50% in patients on the standard hospital CoVID-19 protocol versus 2% among patients receiving calcifediol alongside standard hospital treatment.

Although this study involved relatively small numbers of patients, these findings were nevertheless quite remarkable. Anecdotally our patients repeatedly note more rapid recovery with the use of calcifediol for acute respiratory infections.


Nutrition, Sunlight and Supplementation

We encourage obtaining essential nutrients through a varied, nutrient-rich diet, including oily fish, leafy vegetables, fermented foods, nuts, seeds, legumes and whole grains.

We also encourage a balanced approach to sunlight exposure, recognizing its role in natural vitamin D production and other potential health benefits, while avoiding prolonged unprotected exposure and, above all, avoiding sunburns.

Nevertheless, in our clinical experience, supplementation is often necessary to achieve and maintain appropriate nutrient levels, particularly for vitamin D.

Our RESTORE philosophy is simple: identify nutritional deficiencies, correct them appropriately and establish a sustainable foundation for healthy immune function and long-term wellbeing.

Once important deficiencies have been addressed, the objective is to MAINTAIN the benefits through a simple, sustainable nutritional routine.



3. MAINTAIN

Support Long-Term Nutritional and Metabolic Health

Following RESTORE, patients continue their individualized nutritional foundation, with vitamin D3, K2 and magnesium adjusted according to their needs.

The goal is to maintain an appropriate nutritional and metabolic environment while keeping the daily routine straightforward and sustainable.


4. PROTECT

Prepare for Periods of Increased Viral Exposure

Certain situations increase the likelihood of exposure to respiratory viruses, including air travel, conferences, crowded environments and close contact with individuals who are unwell.

The PROTECT stage provides a practical preparedness package intended for use during these higher-risk periods.

The proposed package includes:

Antimicrobial Blue Light (aBL) Probe: Designed for convenient self-administration, allowing brief treatment of the nose and throat as soon as possible following potential exposure. Preventative treatments take only a few minutes and can be performed immediately after - or even during periods of high-risk exposure.

Hypochlorous Acid (HOCl) Spray: A gentle yet highly effective topical antiseptic formulated for oral and nasal use. While aBL treatment is focused primarily on the throat, HOCl spray provides broader coverage throughout the mouth.

Ivermectin tablets: A convenient once-daily dosing proactive antiviral regimen, initiated shortly before anticipated high-risk exposure, continued throughout the exposure period, and maintained for a few days afterward.

Our clinical experience with proactive strategies has been particularly encouraging among elderly individuals with increased vulnerability to infection and frequent travelers who previously experienced recurrent respiratory illnesses.

These observations have helped shape the ImmuneDefense™ approach.

5. RESPOND EARLY

Be Ready to Act When Symptoms First Appear

One of the central principles of ImmuneDefense™ is that patients should not have to begin researching treatment options or arranging safety investigations only after becoming unwell.

The RESPOND EARLY stage is designed to provide a personalized plan and appropriate supplies in advance.

Depending on individual suitability, the proposed strategy may include:

  • Oral methylene blue capsules: Oral methylene blue is the cornerstone of our treatment for acute viral infections provided that there are no contraindications to its use. We normally observe marked symptom improvements even within a few hours of the first dose. The aim is to have methylene blue on hand for early intervention. You will be given detailed personalized treatment instructions based on your questionnaire responses.

  • Calcifediol: One to two doses at the onset of symptoms. The proposed calcifediol strategy reflects our clinical approach to supporting vitamin D status during active viral illness which places extra demand on vitamin D stores. Our patients frequently report that a brief calcifediol boost appears to produce a consistent improvement in their clinical response.

  • Zinc lozenges: For short-term use, ideally started within 24 hours of the first symptoms of a respiratory infection. A typical course is 5–7 days. Zinc supports normal immune function and has recognized antiviral properties. When dissolved slowly in the mouth, zinc lozenges may help inhibit viral activity and replication in the mouth and throat. Research suggests that starting zinc lozenges at the earliest signs of illness may shorten the duration of upper respiratory illness, making them a potentially useful additional measure during periods of increased viral exposure or early infection.

  • Continued use of appropriate measures from the PROTECT stage, including the aBL probe.

    Treatment with the aBL probe at the outset of exposure has a far greater effect on viral inactivation than treatment initiated several hours or days later, due to the exponential rate of viral replication.

    The longer the delay between initial exposure and treatment, the less likely the aBL probe will be able to clear the full viral load. Furthermore, over a period of hours to days, viruses are increasingly likely to have spread beyond their initial points of entry.

    However, continued use of the aBL probe may still be beneficial at this stage because of its additional intrinsic photodynamic effect. This effect may potentially help “train your immune system,” promoting a better-coordinated response to the virus, even after it has spread beyond the initial points of entry.

The objective is to ensure that each patient has an individualized response plan ready before symptoms develop, together with clear instructions on when additional medical assessment is necessary.

6. ESCALATE

Additional Support When Viral Infection Is Already Established

Our clinical experience has consistently reinforced the importance of prevention and timely intervention.

In our experience, established infections requiring more intensive treatment are most commonly encountered when preventive or early-response measures have not been used, or when treatment has been delayed.

The ESCALATE stage is therefore particularly relevant for individuals who seek care after a viral infection has already become established.

The proposed strategy builds upon the earlier stages and may include:

  • Methylene blue capsules: Methylene blue dosing may be escalated with established infection. Detailed instructions based on your particular history will be provided in advance so you know exactly what steps to take. However it is advisable to schedule a telehealth consultation for additional support and advice as needed.

  • Calcifediol: A five-dose course of capsules, including any calcifediol already taken during RESPOND EARLY. The dose may be reduced to two calcifediol capsules if you have consistently followed the RESTORE and MAINTAIN protocols. Adherence to these measures is also likely to reduce your risk of significant infection.

    However, other factors may still increase your vulnerability, including high-risk exposures or temporary reductions in immune defenses associated with stress, inadequate sleep or other influences. The use of calcifediol in this setting is informed by research conducted in hospitalized patients with COVID-19 in Spain and our experience which indicates an enhanced response and recovery with its use for acute viral conditions.

  • Zinc lozenges: For short-term use, ideally started within 24 hours of the first symptoms of a respiratory infection. A typical course is 5–7 days, including any zinc lozenges already taken during RESPOND EARLY.

  • Continued use of aBL probe including a special immune support application. Detailed instructions will be provided.

  • Additional individualized treatment where clinically indicated.

Clinical assessment remains important when symptoms are persistent, worsening or suggest complications.

If you develop symptoms requiring medical assessment, experience an unexpected reaction, or need changes to your treatment plan, an additional consultation may be necessary.
